Copper Gutters in Lafitte, LA

Copper Gutters in Lafitte, LA

Copper gutters are a long-term choice. A system made from 16 ounce copper sheet can outlast the roof above it, and it changes color over the years from bright penny to brown and eventually to the green patina you see on old churches. Some owners like that. Some ask for a clear coat to slow it down.

Copper is installed differently from aluminum. Seams and corners are soldered, not sealed with caulk, so a well-made joint does not open up as the metal expands and contracts. Hangers and fasteners must be copper or a compatible metal too. Put a steel screw against copper and you get galvanic corrosion at the contact point within a few seasons.

Lafitte, LA Gutter Installation crews in Lafitte, LA who do copper work fabricate the runs, solder the miters, and fit matching round or square downspouts and copper leader heads where the design calls for them. Half-round is the most common copper profile, though copper K-style is also available.

Where copper makes sense:

• Slate, tile or cedar roofs built to last decades
• Historic restorations replacing original copper
• Front elevations where the gutter is part of the look
